TAILORED FEAST

Holiday Colors

Green and Red Dresses (both), Urban Outfitters

The quality and feel of the fabric of these dresses are amazing given the price.  I love holiday sales.  These are perfect for seasonal dinner parties, evenings out, really anything.  Pair with gold jewelry or maybe black gems to round out the outfit and makes the dresses special.

Elizabeth and James Lafayette Sunglasses

Got these beauties in the mail the other day!

Cat eye sunglasses are a perfect balance of drama and classic shape.  Elizabeth and James’ Lafayette Sunglasses have some added edge with its raised brow.  So basically they’re perfect when you’re being anti-social yet have to be out and about in the world (ugh).

Love that E&J doesn’t do blatant logo-ing on the sides of their eyewear.  The brand does some nice etching on the edges of their eyewear instead.

Elizabeth and James knows how to do eyewear.  Many of their sunglasses remind me of Karen Walker’s but they are a tiny bit less expensive and are less extreme. I’m so obsessed with these that I’ve started wearing them indoors. It’s normal.

Neutral Lace & Bows

Days when I’m feeling lazy but still have to go to work necessitate a polished outfit that requires little effort and gives maximum comfort.  Just got my J.Crew Minnies in the mail the other day—I decidedly needed a pair in navy and they are just so worth it. These faux leggings may be J.Crew’s greatest gift to the female population.  Paired them with a sheer lace blouse from Forever 21 (had to get this altered since it had really weird straps hanging from the collar…so typical of F21 to have one horrific detail that ruins a perfectly cute item of clothing…) and neutral bow peep toes.

The shoes have about a 1-inch heel so, being 5’10” already, I adore the little bit of added height without sacrificing comfort/towering over the rest of the population. Did I mention I got them at Loehmann’s on clearance for literally $20…….so so worth it. Love the gold detailing on the bows.

I didn’t care to do anything with my hair so I left my natural waves in and just used a little texturizing spray.  Kept the makeup simple using Lorac’s Unzipped Palette, Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 0L Black, NARS blush/bronzer in Deep Throat/Laguna, and Jouer Tinted Moisturizer in Bronzed.

And obvs an instagrammed version:

Le Petit Marche

To continue my brunch chronicles…today I went to Le Petit Marche with a couple of my friends around noon.  It’s found in Kirkwood near SiMB which, after a mediocre experience there, I lowered my expectations for LPM given its less than ideal location.  The restaurant was quaint and crowded around 12pm on a Sunday afternoon.  I didn’t like the fact that you had to hover over tables waiting for parties to leave so that you could jump on that in order to seat yourself.  After ordering at the counter and enduring a mild debacle with a disgruntled sir from beating him to an open table, we sat ourselves and waited for our french toast sandwiches.  Everyone got the same thing because it basically included everything you could ever want…french toast, eggs, bacon, and this cracked out banana cream stuff that came on the side but really should just be served in a giant bowl as its own separate entree.

The decor had somewhat of a French theme while the music consisted of every 90s rock song that I have ever loved.  The french toast sandwich was pretty decent.

Clockwise: Counter/coffee bar, my friend Laura,  french toast sandwich + banana cream

All I do is go out to brunch basically.

Sun in My Belly

I visited Sun in My Belly for brunch yesterday morning.  Located in Kirkwood, it’s in an iffy area but the venue was cute and cosy.  The interior and music was a little too hippy for my tastes and the wait was longer than I’d like.  I’m sad to say that brunch was just okay as I had so much hope for a brunch place with such a great name.  My friends had the challah french toast stuffed with honeyed ricotta while I had “The Hangover” which is basically egg, sausage and avocado on a buttermilk biscuit with Sriracha on top and a side of potatoes. It was sort of just eh. My friends didn’t particularly think the french toast was worth what we paid either as this place was a little more pricey than most others (especially when Highland Bakery offers what may be the greatest french toast to ever grace this planet not too far away from SiMB). With so many other restaurants that boast amazing brunches, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

West Egg & Piedmont Park

Finally visited West Egg for brunch this morning.  Located in Midtown, West Egg had a decent wait already despite it only being 10am on a Saturday.  Definitely going to have to try the benedict and french toast the next few times I’m here.

We ventured to Piedmont Park for the weekly Farmer’s Market as well as the Arts Festival.  Made it a point to visit King of Pops for the first time (I know, the fact that it’s taken me this long to try KoP is a disgrace).  I had Banana Caramel while my friend had Chocolate with Sea Salt and OMG. It. Was. So. Good. The park was beautiful and filled with people as it was another sunny afternoon in ATL.

Two Urban Licks

Last night I ventured to Two Urban Licks, one of my favorite restaurants in ATL, with one of my good friends who is leaving for a semester abroad in Barcelona this upcoming semester.  We had just gone to Thumbs Up Diner (another one of my favorite brunch places) earlier in the day as a final Atlanta Sunday brunch that we had gotten so used to doing this summer.  We took advantage of Atlanta’s Summer Swag 2012 deal which provides 50% off your meal aka the best meal ever for like zero dollars. Included in the deal are most of the Concentrics restaurants which include some favorites like Murphy’s and Flip Burger.
